AMI affiliated Training Center

What is an AMI-affiliated Training Center?

Our AMI affiliated Training Center in Munich is the only one in Germany authorized to award the AMI diploma in accordance with the guidelines of the Association Montessori Internationale.

All AMI courses are conducted exclusively by certified AMI trainers to ensure the highest standards of training.

There are other organizations that collaborate with the AMI, known as “AMI Affiliated Societies.” However, these are NOT authorized to issue the AMI diploma.

Maria Schäf

Our AMI trainer and Director of Training is Maria Schäf. She has been deeply rooted in Montessori education since childhood and brings an exceptionally diverse range of experience to the table—gained both in Germany and abroad. Throughout her life, she has come to know Montessori education from a wide variety of perspectives: as a child, as a student, as an employer, as a mother, and as an AMI trainer. This wealth of experience, both national and international, flows into her work and enriches the training of our students in a lasting way.

Maria Roth

Since 1970, she has been closely connected with the international Montessori movement. After completing her training in the first AMI course in Munich under the direction of Mario Montessori, the son of Dr. Maria Montessori, she worked in the model kindergarten of Aktion Sonnenschein, one of the first institutions worldwide where children with and without disabilities were educated together.

In the following decades, she developed and directed AMI training programs, particularly in the field of inclusive Montessori education, and played a key role in establishing several international training centers. She founded the Montessori International Training Center in Munich and has been involved in training Montessori educators in various European countries.

To this day, she is committed to providing high‑quality Montessori training, convinced that solid education of adults is essential so that children can be supported in the best possible way in their development.

Stela Stiller

She began her Montessori journey in 2008 during a practical year in Mrs. Roth’s kindergarten in Munich. She then completed her AMI diploma in 2010 and has made Montessori education a central part of her work ever since.

After her second year of trainer training under the guidance of Mrs. Marja‑Leena Tyrväinen in Estonia, she is now continuing her AMI trainer education in Munich under the direction of Mrs. Maria Roth.
